Look what we are up to now: Our Exceptional Chefs are gaining important life-skills and confidence!!

Before founding Cooking Autism, Inc., my dream was to reach out into our community and help provide life-skills classes to every child of any ability. I have seen the impact that life-skills cooking classes has made on my two children on the autism spectrum and know that there are other children, like mine, that could benefit from these types of classes.

When Cooking Autism became a 501(c)(3) non-profit company, I was so excited for our organization to be invited by the Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation to partner with them to make these important classes available to our whole community.

Today was our very first of four monthly cooking classes, and oh boy, it was a HUGE success! We packed the kitchen with students, teachers, and care givers for a forty-minute class. It went by extremely quick!

Upon arriving each student was given an apron, a chef’s hat, and an Exceptional Cooking Award for completing today's lesson. Our lesson was focused on; turn taking, waiting, sequencing, answering yes/no questions, following directions, practicing table manners, mixing, measuring, and assembling. Our students did a phenomenal job! And they really enjoyed the fruits of their labor!!!

We have three more monthly cooking classes on the books. Please sign up quickly to ensure your spot is reserved. Space is limited to ten students per class.

For students with food sensitivities and allergies, we are happy to accommodate. Please reach out via email, April@CookingAutism.org before the date of your class so that we may purchase the appropriate supplies.
